I learned of this at Facebook the other day, on a thread bemoaning the quality of cartoons on Cartoon Network today. (It also mentions WHY live-action kiddie shows were included at the time.)

Is that true? If so...no wonder the reboot is looking a little off to most loyal Powerpuff Girls fans.

Not only that; the original creator is probably disgruntled with his adorable little creations that is nevertheless so popular around the world (an anime version is actually created and my ancient PPG fanart here continue to be added to favorites even to this day - the oldest ones are from 2004 or earlier!)

I think Craig McCracken was pretty sore about the box office results of The Powerpuff Girls Movie, right?

Unfortunately yes, once the creator's show gets the thumbs up by Cartoon Network or any other TV network. It's considered their own property since they so called ''bought'' the rights from the creator. Every show that is created by their original creator is owned by the network. Notice how Mr. McCracken said on his pinned tweet that all the characters, rights and everything he has worked for Cartoon Network (and Turner which is their owner) belongs to them?. Yes, even Fosters Home of Imaginary Friends is part of that.

Cartoon Network (or Turner) can do whatever they want with their properties, that includes shows that are produced by other studios such as Curious Pictures for Codename: Kids Next Door and Frederator Studios for Adventure Time. The studios don't own the rights to these shows. Cartoon Network and their owner Turner Broadcasting does.
